Kasbah Bab Ourika
High above the lush Ourika Valley, with the majestic Atlas Mountains as an impressive backdrop, lies Kasbah Bab Ourika. From this unique location, the view extends over winding rivers, fertile fields, and orchards full of olive, orange, and lemon trees, while the snow-capped peaks shimmer in the sunlight on the horizon.
This charming boutique hotel is a destination in itself. Here, luxury is not found in formality, but in the tranquility of the surroundings, the warm Berber hospitality, and the thoughtfully designed spaces that exude character and authenticity. The architecture and interior are inspired by the rich Berber culture and Morocco's heritage, making every corner of the kasbah tell a story.
Since opening in 2008, Kasbah Bab Ourika has gained international recognition as one of the most extraordinary accommodations in the region. Yet, it is primarily the harmony between comfort, culture, and nature that makes a stay here unforgettable. A place where you slow down, absorb the beauty of the Atlas Mountains, and experience the authentic Morocco up close.

Your Stay
Kasbah Bab Ourika is located in a magical setting of lush greenery, with breathtaking views and a serene tranquility, all less than an hour from Marrakech. The interiors are inspired by the beauty and richness of centuries-old Moroccan craftsmanship, complemented by an eclectic, personal collection of objects, carpets, paintings, photographs, and furniture. Whether you stay in the main building, in the gardens, or in the villa: everywhere, you will feel the attention to detail and the connection to nature that make this place so special.
Accommodation
The kasbah features 42 rooms, distributed across different parts of the property. Fifteen rooms are located in the main building, sixteen within the gardens, including a spacious villa with five bedrooms and three Pool Suites, and eleven in the recently added Retreat. The Pool Suites are situated in the most spectacular spots of the hotel and each have their own character—a truly unique experience. The Private Villa offers five bedrooms and four bathrooms with breathtaking views and feels like a home away from home within the hotel. The Retreat, with eleven rooms spread over three levels and sweeping mountain and valley vistas, is perfect for groups and special occasions. All rooms are tastefully decorated with attention to detail in the characteristic eclectic style of the kasbah.
Restaurants
The kitchen at Kasbah Bab Ourika focuses on the product. The fresh, organic ingredients come from the property's own gardens and local markets in the valley, forming the foundation of a pure, artisanal cuisine. The menu changes with the seasons and the location, offering both Moroccan and international dishes: from a healthy breakfast and a light lunch by the pool to exotic picnics, nutritious hiking packages, and refined specialties for an intimate dinner.
The menu is a harmonious blend of traditional Moroccan dishes and global cuisine with Mediterranean influences, partly shaped by the renowned Moroccan chef Zakia Ait Boulahcen, who has added a fresh perspective as a consultant. You can dine in the gardens, in the restaurant with a colonnade, or privately, upon request, in your room or suite. The restaurant is also open to non-hotel guests, and larger groups can be accommodated on the many outdoor terraces, offering spectacular views over the Atlas Mountains and the Ourika Valley.
Wellness and Spa
In the Beldi Spa, a serene oasis nestled among the gardens, you will find complete relaxation. Here, you can indulge in a traditional hammam, massages, and beauty and facial treatments. The spa uses natural, locally sourced products and draws from the region's rich botanical diversity: the treatments feature indigenous ingredients known for their beneficial effects. For those who wish to stay active, there is also a fitness center.
Swimming pool
High on the hill, with a breathtaking view over the rolling desert and the mountains in the background, is the pool. With comfortable loungers and a nearby restaurant, it is the perfect place to relax — whether the sun is high in the sky or slowly setting behind the mountains.
Activities
Kasbah Bab Ourika is not only a tranquil oasis but also a perfect base to explore the rich culture and stunning landscape of the region. You can opt for peaceful walks and picnics in the immediate surroundings, or for longer treks, such as to the pristine salt mines in the national park. Along the way, you will pass numerous Berber villages and gain an authentic impression of life in the mountains. The kasbah provides experienced, English-speaking mountain guides who will tell you more about the valley, Berber culture, and the nature around you. Additionally, there are culturally immersive activities such as a mint tea ceremony, cooking workshops, and henna sessions, so you can take a piece of Morocco home with you. Upon request, the chef is happy to prepare a personalized picnic for you, served at a scenic location.
Child-friendly
You are also warmly welcomed with your family at Kasbah Bab Ourika. The Private Villa with five bedrooms is ideally suited for families who want to stay together with plenty of space and privacy. It is a place where children naturally get acquainted with Moroccan culture and the rhythm of the mountain landscape.
Sustainability
At Kasbah d’If, sustainability is not an addition — it is woven into the very heart of the stay. The restoration of the Kasbah is the most striking example of this: local materials and traditional craftsmanship have breathed new life into the spaces, with respect for the original structure and character of the building.
Modern techniques ensure efficient energy and water use, tailored to the vulnerability of the Agafay environment. The private herb garden partially supplies the food production, complemented by products from local farmers in the region.
Guests are also subtly involved here — a conscious choice that enriches the experience without asking anything in return.
