Barbados

The Island of Sun, Rhythm, and Rum

Discover Barbados

Barbados is a paradise island where the rhythm of calypso and the sound of rolling waves come together. This sun-soaked gem in the Caribbean Sea belongs to the Lesser Antilles and is located at the easternmost point of the Caribbean region, where the Atlantic Ocean and the Caribbean Sea meet. Barbados is renowned for its powder-white beaches, crystal-clear waters, and the unparalleled hospitality of the Bajan people.

Barbados has a rich history dating back to the original Arawak and Carib Indians before becoming an English colony in 1627. After centuries of sugar plantations and the rise of the famous Bajan rum, the island gained independence in 1966. Yet, British influence endures in traditions such as cricket and afternoon tea, combined with the relaxed Caribbean flair.

Whether you want to snorkel with sea turtles at Carlisle Bay, explore the vibrant capital Bridgetown, or enjoy a rum tasting at the world’s oldest distillery, Barbados offers a perfect mix of adventure and relaxation. Add in the impressive underground cave system of Harrison’s Cave and the rugged cliffs of the east coast, and you have a destination that continues to enchant.
