Discover Iceland – The ultimate luxury experience
Iceland is not a destination; it is a rare experience. An island of extremes where fiery volcanoes meet crystal-clear glaciers, where waterfalls cascade like silver veils from cliffs, and where geothermal springs invite you to pure relaxation. Here, nature takes on an almost theatrical role: endless summer evenings bathed in golden light, while the winter sky is illuminated by the dancing Northern Lights.
For the luxury traveler, Iceland is an unspoiled sanctuary where exclusivity and elegance come together. Think of private journeys along pristine fjords, intimate helicopter flights over lava fields and glacier rivers, or a glass of champagne under the midnight sun. Your trip is enriched with extraordinary accommodations: design hotels with panoramic views, luxurious lodges surrounded by silence and starlit skies, and wellness oases that let you feel the power of nature in every detail.
Iceland also offers culinary surprises. From Michelin-starred restaurants working with pure, local ingredients to intimate dinners in remote settings – here you taste the essence of the country, refined and innovatively presented. And always with the warmth of Icelandic hospitality, giving your journey a personal, authentic shine.

Important holidays
In addition to the widely known holidays such as Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost, and Christmas, Iceland also has some unique national celebrations:
- Day of Summer (the first Thursday after April 18): A traditional celebration marking the beginning of summer.
- Independence Day (June 17): Commemoration of Iceland's independence from Denmark in 1944.
- Vesselmenningadagur (Vesselmenning Day) (the first Sunday in June): An official holiday honoring fishermen, an important part of Icelandic culture.
- Jónsmessa (June 23): The Icelandic Midsummer Night, with folk beliefs and old traditions surrounding the longest day of the year.
Travel documents / visa
For a trip to Iceland, you need a valid Dutch identity card or passport, or a Belgian international travel document. Make sure this document is valid for the duration of your stay. Please note: if you are traveling onward to the United States, different requirements apply to your travel documents. For example, an identity card is not accepted as a valid travel document in that case.
Climate & Best Time to Travel
Iceland is visitable all year round. July and August constitute the high season, with mild temperatures, long days, and little precipitation. This is also an ideal time for festivals and whale-watching trips.
May, June, and September are quieter months, while the weather remains pleasant. June even offers 24 hours of daylight. From late August, you can already see the Northern Lights.
The low season in Iceland runs from October through April. This period is perfect for viewing the Northern Lights and enjoying winter sports in a magical winter landscape. From late October, temperatures drop significantly, especially in the north, and can fall well below freezing.
Due to snow and ice, some natural areas may be less accessible, but in many places, you can enjoy skiing, snowboarding, exploring ice caves, and admiring frozen waterfalls. After a day in the cold, it is wonderfully relaxing to unwind in one of the many natural hot springs Iceland has to offer.
Health
Icelanders live in a clean environment with very pure air and clean drinking water. In towns and villages, you will find well-equipped hospitals, medical aid stations, and pharmacies of high quality. Please note that these facilities are sometimes located quite far apart.
Are you using specific medications? It is recommended to bring a sufficient supply from the Netherlands.
Time difference
In summer, the time difference between Iceland and the Netherlands or Belgium is 2 hours. In winter, the difference is 1 hour.
Money & Currency
In Iceland, you pay with the Icelandic króna (ISK). Euros can be exchanged at Icelandic banks, which are present in most larger towns and at the airport. In cities and villages, you will also find ATMs, and throughout most of the country, you can easily pay with a credit card.
