A Dive into History

In addition to its breathtaking nature, Yala also boasts a rich historical and cultural significance. Within the park boundaries lie ancient ruins of temples and settlements, evidence of a time when Buddhist monks and royal dynasties lived here. The Sithulpawwa Temple, an important pilgrimage site, is located deep within the park and dates back more than 2,000 years.

Safari and Experience

A safari through Yala is an unforgettable adventure. With an experienced ranger, you will traverse the park in an open jeep, searching for wildlife in their natural habitat. Early morning and late afternoon safaris offer the best chance to see leopards and elephants, while the golden sunlight bathes the landscape in a magical glow.

Best Time to Visit

The ideal period to visit Yala National Park is from February to July, when the dry season draws animals to the water sources, increasing your chances of spotting wildlife such as leopards and elephants. During these months, the roads within the park are generally more accessible, and the dense undergrowth gives way to open landscapes, making it easier to observe animals.

Please note that the park is often closed in September due to the monsoon rains and to give nature and the ecosystem the necessary rest. Outside this period, you can visit the park year-round, but the likelihood of wildlife sightings varies depending on the season.
