About Birkenhead House
Perched atop a cliff in Walker Bay, Hermanus, Birkenhead House offers a premier and enchanting setting with breathtaking and wild landscapes. Birkenhead House is the ultimate 5-star beach villa to fully recharge in a chic and stylish atmosphere. All of this is combined with world-class cuisine right on the coast and impeccable comfort, while the ocean views never tire.
Birkenhead House is the perfect base for enjoyable activities, situated at the foot of the famous Hemel-en-Aarde wine route and simultaneously the ideal place to spot whales. It is a special experience to see humpback whales and southern right whales breaching just meters from the coast during the migration season, whether you are just waking up or enjoying your coffee during breakfast.
The hotel is named after the HMS Birkenhead, which was wrecked near Danger Point in the east. From the hotel, you can see Danger Point, but the name originates from the way the ship was evacuated, which is still an official procedure in maritime disasters today.
