Day by day

Day 1: Arrival & Exploration of the Reykjanes Peninsula

After arriving at Keflavík Airport, you will be welcomed by your private guide or collect your rental car. Your journey begins immediately with a drive along the rugged and volcanic Reykjanes Peninsula, an area known for its otherworldly landscapes. Visit the bubbling mud pools of Gunnuhver, the impressive coastal cliffs of Reykjanesbær, the natural rock pool Brimketill, and the colorful geothermal area Krýsuvík.

You will then drive south to check in at the charming Skálakot Manor Hotel. This boutique-style farm offers comfortable rooms, an excellent restaurant, and views of the surrounding valleys.

Day 2: Waterfalls and Black Beaches

Today, you will explore the dramatic South Coast of Iceland. Start at the iconic Seljalandsfoss, where you can walk behind the waterfall. A little further along is Gljúfrabúi, a hidden gem tucked away in a rocky gorge. At the village of Skógar, admire the powerful Skógafoss and visit the interesting open-air museum Skógasafn.

In the afternoon, visit the bird cliffs of Dyrhólaey and the black lava beach of Reynisfjara, famous for its basalt columns and rugged surf. You will end the day in the picturesque fishing village of Vík or return to Skálakot for a relaxing evening.

Day 3: Free day or active excursions

This day offers you the opportunity to continue enjoying the South Coast at your own pace. Revisit your favorite spots or choose one of the adventurous excursions, such as a glacier walk on the Sólheimajökull, a ride with a superjeep, or a visit to the interactive Lava Centre in Hvolsvöllur. Horse riding, snowmobiling, or ice climbing are also options (depending on the season).

Day 4: The Golden Circle & Arrival at Torfhús

After breakfast, you will travel towards the heart of Iceland: the famous Golden Circle. Your first stop is the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, followed by the geothermal area Haukadalur, where geysers like Strokkur erupt spectacularly every few minutes.

Next, you will visit the historic Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Walk between the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates through the Almannagjá rift, and discover the place where the first Icelandic parliament was founded. Finally, you will admire the photogenic Öxarárfoss.

In the afternoon, check in at the exclusive Torfhús Retreat, where luxury, nature, and sustainability come together. You will stay in an elegant turf house with a private geothermal bath, inspired by traditional Viking architecture.

Day 5: Þjórsárdalur Valley of Relaxation

Today, you can choose between relaxation or further exploration. Unwind in your own warm outdoor pool or book a massage at the location. Craving a trip? Then a drive to the Þjórsárdalur valley is highly recommended. Here, you will find the double waterfall Hjálparfoss, the reconstructed Viking farm Stöng, and the fairy-tale-like gorge Gjáin with moss, waterfalls, and small streams.

Prefer something more active? You can go snorkeling in the Silfra fissure, a unique diving spot between two continents, or go horseback riding over lava fields.

Day 6: Departure from Iceland

Your Icelandic adventure comes to an end.

  • Private guide: you will be picked up at your accommodation for the private transfer to Keflavík Airport.
  • Self-drive: make sure to allocate enough time for the drive back to the airport and the return of your Land Cruiser.

You return home with memories of breathtaking landscapes, exclusive accommodations, and the pure beauty of Iceland.
