Although Bali can be quite touristy, fortunately it is still possible to venture off the beaten path and discover hidden spots.
You will be picked up at your hotel and taken to the Bangli region. Here, you will see how coconut palm wine (tuak) is made, and if you wish, you can taste it as well. The more well-known Balinese arak is often distilled from tuak. Then, you will drive to a beautiful bamboo forest, where your guide will explain about bamboo.
As you will see, this is a very lush and fertile area. You will visit plantations where, among other things, Arabica coffee beans and pumpkins are grown.
You will now go truly off-road, and through a lava field, you will reach your lunch spot. Enjoy the meal, but also definitely take in the view of Mount Batur and its lake.
Next, it’s time to visit the authentic, historic Bubung Renteng temple, with ancient statues that wouldn’t look out of place in a vintage adventure film. Via another off-road route, you will reach a small village where you will see how a local bladesmith traditionally makes a kris. It’s wonderful to see that such an old craft is still being practiced.
On the way back, you will stop at a Beringin tree, one of Bali’s sacred tree species, better known as the banyan tree. The road continues through small villages and offers stunning viewpoints over lush rice terraces and clove plantations, before returning you to your hotel.
