Dar Ahlam – The House of Dreams

The kasbah features 42 rooms, distributed across different parts of the property. Fifteen rooms are located in the main building, sixteen within the gardens, including a spacious villa with five bedrooms and three Pool Suites, and eleven in the recently added Retreat. The Pool Suites are situated in the most spectacular spots of the hotel and each have their own character—a truly unique experience. The Private Villa offers five bedrooms and four bathrooms with breathtaking views and feels like a home away from home within the hotel. The Retreat, with eleven rooms spread over three levels and sweeping mountain and valley vistas, is perfect for groups and special occasions. All rooms are tastefully decorated with attention to detail in the characteristic eclectic style of the kasbah.

Dining at Dar Ahlam is an experience in itself, as there is no traditional restaurant hall. Instead, there are dozens of spots, both indoors and outdoors, where your meal is served in complete privacy at the moment you choose. One evening, you might enjoy a thousand and one nights dinner under a Berber tent, the next morning a breakfast amid the greenery of the garden, in the afternoon a picnic in the Sidi Flah gorges, or lunch by the pool. Each meal takes place in a different setting, often without prior knowledge of what awaits.

There is no menu. The dishes are personally prepared for you using seasonal products from the local souk and the estate’s own organic garden, combining unusual flavors and traditional techniques to create a refined, contemporary cuisine. Considering dietary preferences or restrictions is entirely natural here; everything revolves around what *you* desire that day.

An exclusive riad is entirely dedicated to relaxation. Here, you will find an authentic hammam, a jacuzzi, and a cozy massage room illuminated by candlelight. In the on-site 'perfumerie,' fragrant oils are available, used during treatments and massages. Each one is carefully crafted. After a day full of impressions, you can indulge in complete tranquility here, without rush and without anything you need to do.

In the heart of the estate lies a heated, natural stone-lined swimming pool, surrounded by palms and olive trees that provide pleasant shade. It is the perfect spot to spend the warmer hours of the day with a book, a refreshing swim, and views of the gardens and the mountains beyond. Due to the seclusion of the house, the pool feels more like a private pond than a hotel facility.

Cooking workshop and the oasis
For a peaceful day close to home, you can participate in a cooking workshop to learn the secrets of Moroccan cuisine, or explore the palm oasis of Skoura on foot or by bike, passing ancient kasbahs and small agricultural plots. A walk with a picnic along the way is just as much part of the experience as lounging by the pool.

Excursions through the valley
With a private guide and 4x4, you venture further into the region: to the Dadès and Drâa Valleys, the spectacular Valley of the Roses, or the high-altitude villages and colorful markets at the foot of the snow-capped mountains. For the more adventurous, the surroundings can be explored on the back of a camel, mule, or horse, or by quad or motorcycle. The ways to discover this vast landscape are virtually endless.

A night in the desert camp
The private desert camp deserves a special mention: a night in a luxury bivouac tent, in absolute silence under the stars, with dinner by candlelight and breakfast at sunrise. For many guests, this is the highlight of their stay.

Dar Ahlam, with its calm and understated character, is especially loved by couples and travelers seeking silence and privacy. However, children are very welcome, and the team knows how to tailor the days to suit families. Babysitting services are available, and the personal, flexible nature of the house makes it easy to adapt everything to your family's rhythm, from meal times to excursions. Because there are few rooms and no fixed program structure, Dar Ahlam is best suited for older children who can appreciate the tranquility and the adventurous excursions in the surrounding area.

At Dar Ahlam, luxury and responsibility go hand in hand. The vast majority of the team comes from the local area; many have previously worked on the restoration of the kasbah and have been permanent staff ever since. Intentionally, only one person per family is employed, so as many families as possible in the village can benefit from the employment opportunities.

The kitchen works with seasonal products from its own organic garden and from local souks and women’s cooperatives in nearby villages, ranging from pomegranate vinegar and date caramel to argan oil. An in-house food lab shares seeds and knowledge with local farmers and provides education on sustainable agricultural methods in an area facing water scarcity.

In terms of the environment, Dar Ahlam has invested in an advanced water system to reduce waste and eliminate the need for plastic bottles, in solar energy, and in glass recycling through a partner in Marrakech. Additionally, the house actively participates in the Memory Road project together with the Global Heritage Fund to preserve Moroccan heritage, including the restoration of the abandoned village Tiskmoudine. In this way, Dar Ahlam continually gives back to the environment in which it is so naturally integrated.
