In the heart of the bush, surrounded by a beautiful garden, lies the idyllic lodge 970 Lonely Bay. The boutique lodge features 4 suites, each with its own style and decor. There is also The Barn, which can be rented exclusively. In this lodge, you can completely unwind.
Start the day relaxed with a good book from the lodge's library, enjoy it in the solarium or on the spacious terrace overlooking the garden or the surrounding nature. Take a peaceful walk through the Shakespeare Reserve, with stunning viewpoints over Mercury Bay. Walk to one of the land's hidden treasures: Lonely Bay, or to Cooks Beach for a beautiful beach walk. If you also want to see the highlights of the Coromandel, Hot Water Beach and the magnificent Cathedral Cove are within a short drive from the lodge.

Your Stay
In the main building of the lodge, you will find a communal lounge with a dining area and fireplace. Additionally, there is a relaxation area with a Bang & Olufsen plasma TV, a solarium with a sunroof, and a spacious garden. The lodge has its own parking lot, and free Wi-Fi is available.
The lodge features 4 suites, each with its own style and interior. Each suite includes a complimentary stocked minibar with drinks and snacks, and an en-suite bathroom with a bathtub and separate shower. The suites located on the first floor are accessible by lift. Besides these suites, there is also The Barn, a converted barn that can be booked exclusively as a whole for up to 4 guests.

Lonely Bay consists of 3 suites with 1 bedroom and 1 suite with 2 bedrooms. All suites have 1 bathroom. The Barn features 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a living room, kitchen, and a terrace. You enjoy a continental breakfast every day, a complimentary well-stocked minibar with, among other things, local wine and snacks, and a cafetière to make your own coffee.
The Atrium Suite has access to (as the name suggests) a private atrium. The bedroom has a king-size bed and windows that can be fully folded open, overlooking the atrium. The bathroom features a freestanding bath and a separate walk-in shower.
The Shakespeare Suite with a king-size bed has large glass doors that fully open to a lovely terrace with views of the surrounding nature of the Shakespeare Reserve. The ensuite bathroom includes a freestanding bath and a separate walk-in shower.
The Purangi Suite also has large glass doors that fully open to a beautiful terrace overlooking the garden and surrounding nature. It features a large king-size bed or Hollywood twin beds. Above the bed, a skylight provides extra natural light during the day and a view of the starry sky at night. This suite also has a bathroom with a bath and a separate walk-in shower.
The Estuary Terrace is the only suite with two bedrooms. The bedroom on the first floor has a lovely terrace, a king-size bed, a gas fireplace, and an ensuite bathroom with a bath and a separate walk-in shower. The upper floor houses the second bedroom with a double bed and another partly covered terrace with views of the Purangi Estuary and Mercury Bay.
Finally, there is The Barn – a detached house available for exclusive rental for up to 4 persons. This Barn features a cozy ground-floor living room with underfloor heating, a fireplace, a large glass door opening to the dining area, and a fully equipped kitchen. Enjoy sitting outside in your sheltered patio or on your lovely terrace. The ground-floor bedroom has access to the garden and a private bathroom with a bath, a walk-in rain shower, and Nellie Tier toiletries. On the mezzanine level, there is a second bedroom with its own bathroom, a large bath, a walk-in rain shower, Nellie Tier toiletries, and views over the garden.

Right from the lodge, you can enjoy beautiful walks to Lonely Bay or Cooks Beach. Or take a stroll in the Shakespeare Scenic Reserve. Just 2 km away is the pier for the ferry to Whitianga, a charming town with excellent restaurants. Within a short drive, you will find some of the more famous highlights of the Coromandel, such as Hot Water Beach and the magnificent Cathedral Cove. At Cathedral Cove, you can enjoy wonderful hiking or cycling, or take a spectacular kayak trip.

Children aged 15 and older are allowed. If you are traveling with younger children, it is possible to rent The Barn exclusively.
