Phinda Zuka Lodge
Hidden in the wilderness of the &Beyond Phinda Private Game Reserve, the four individual, reed-covered bush suites of &Beyond Phinda Zuka Lodge offer a warm and intimate stay that leaves an unforgettable impression. Phinda Zuka is more than just a safari with the Big Five; it is a success story in conservation, seamlessly blending nature, rich history, cultural heritage, and a carefully curated safari experience.
Born from former farmland, this area has been meticulously restored into 29,866 hectares of thriving wilderness, where cheetahs now sprint across open grasslands and the black rhinoceros grazes in dense Tamboti shrubland. The Phinda Private Game Reserve now spans seven areas, each with its own ecosystem. With only a limited number of vehicles allowed into the area each day, you will enjoy an exceptionally exclusive safari experience, with exciting off-road adventures and the opportunity to observe iconic and rare wildlife up close.
The charming suites are grouped around a waterhole that fills during the rainy season, attracting many wild animals seeking refreshment. The fire pit forms the heart of the lodge, with a traditional boma behind it where dinner is served daily. Intimate and personal are the key words here: you can book a single suite, or reserve all four suites at once for a special private experience.

What you can expect:
- Located at a waterhole in the stunning private game reserve of Phinda
- Four modern Zululand Bush Suites with an authentic character and warm African accents
- Accommodation on an all-inclusive basis, with three meals per day including drinks and two safaris per day
- A limited number of vehicles in the reserve each day, ensuring an exclusive experience and better chances of wildlife sightings
- Home to the Big Five
- Very suitable for families

Your Stay
Surrounding the waterhole are four stylish bush suites, featuring characteristic thatched roofs and nostalgic Zululand charm. From your private terrace, you can watch wild animals gather daily at the water's edge and pass by peacefully. The suite is an oasis of luxury and tranquility, while the intimate character of the lodge creates a personal and relaxed atmosphere.
Accommodation
The lodge consists of three charming suites, wrapped in nostalgic Zululand charm, with a warm interior and a homely character, enhanced with African accents. Spanning 80 m², the bedroom with a canopy bed and lounge seamlessly flows into an open veranda with salas, sunbeds, and a breathtaking view of the natural surroundings and the waterhole around the suites. Especially in the early morning hours, you can spot wildlife here that, just like you, is waking up peacefully. Each suite features a luxurious ensuite bathroom with a freestanding bathtub, a separate toilet, a walk-in rain shower, and a double sink.
Additionally, there is a Family Suite of 147 m², which, besides the bedroom (identical to the Bush Suite), has an extra second bedroom with two twin beds and its own bathroom with a sink, toilet, and shower. The bedrooms are separated by a corridor with a walk-in closet and both open onto the same spacious veranda.
Restaurant
The shared lounge, featuring a fireplace that forms the warm and cozy heart of the lodge, seamlessly extends into the boma, where you can dine under the stars. An enchanting experience, with delicious dishes served from the outdoor oven. The open kitchen in the lounge is an interactive space to gather: assist the private chef in preparing local dishes or watch how they are made — a favorite activity for many guests. Additionally, there is an afternoon tea, and during the game drives, you will be provided with snacks and drinks, for example at sunset.
Spa
There is no extensive spa or fitness center, but you can enjoy delightful Healing Earth massages in the privacy of your suite. Additionally, a "gym-in-a-basket" is available, allowing you to use functional training equipment on your veranda or in the comfort of your suite.
Swimming pool
The sparkling swimming pool is inviting in the warm climate of Natal. With a stunning view over the water feature, this is the perfect spot to relax, cool down, and enjoy a delicious meal or a drink.
Activities
Your stay is All Inclusive, which means that in addition to your meals and drinks, some activities are also included in the price. This way, you will not face unexpected costs on-site.
There are daily game drives twice a day: one in the morning and one in the late afternoon, during which you can enjoy a beautiful sundowner as the sun sets. Hopefully, you will catch a glimpse of the Big Five along the way. Additionally, during your stay, you are allowed to participate in a hour-long walking safari guided by an experienced ranger.
For an extra experience, various activities are also available for an additional fee. Think of sleeping under the stars, specialized walking safaris, tracking black rhinos, visiting a Zulu village, watching turtles nest, and beach visits with activities such as diving or an ocean safari. Furthermore, specific safari options are available, such as photo safaris, family safaris, and bird safaris.
Child-friendly
This natural environment is a playground for children. Let them participate in the WILDchild program or take them on a family safari. The WILDchild program offers entertaining activities for children aged 3 to 12, with each child receiving a backpack filled with appropriate items to learn about this stunning environment through play. Additionally, the chef can prepare special children's dishes. Please note that children under 16 are not allowed on walks outside the lodge.
Sustainability
The origin of Phinda Private Game Reserve already demonstrates how &Beyond Phinda is committed to nature, the environment, animal welfare, and the community. From overarching conservation organizations to the smallest details: every decision is made with a focus on caring for the land, animals, and people.
