Singita Ebony Lodge

Sabi Sand

About Singita Ebony Lodge

Located in the heart of the stunning Sabi Sand Game Reserve, the warm and welcoming Ebony Lodge offers a fresh, modern take on the classic safari experience. Situated along the banks of the Sand River, this lodge combines the distinctive, curved lines of North and West African adobe architecture with the refinement of a luxury safari camp, while preserving the authentic charm of the surrounding environment.

Ebony Lodge is an exciting blend of past and present, with interiors subtly inspired by nature. The carefully selected furnishings evoke a safari atmosphere and are complemented by exclusive artwork from local artisans. The lodge features an inviting 'living room' lounge in the Main Lodge, which, like your suite, has a spacious terrace with a pool and dining area. Here, you can relax and take in the surroundings, surrounded by regional artifacts, each with its own story.

Your stay is, of course, not complete without exploring the surrounding area. Enjoy daily game drives guided by experienced rangers and have the chance to come face-to-face with the impressive Big Five. There are full-day programs within the lodge or reserve to keep you entertained all day, but you can also choose to retreat to your spacious suite and enjoy the excellent facilities.

After a day full of adventures, it’s wonderful to unwind by the lodge’s pool or in the excellent spa. The lodge also leaves nothing to be desired on the culinary front. You stay on a full-board basis, meaning breakfast, lunch, and dinner are all taken care of. All of this is complemented by flavorful, handcrafted dishes.

River Suites

The 12 luxury suites along the Sand River are a beautifully curated collection of antiques and artifacts, featuring vintage furniture, original Ebony heirlooms, and contemporary African art. The use of canvas and panoramic windows enhances the ultimate safari experience and offers magnificent views of the natural surroundings. With a bit of luck, you may spot wildlife drinking at the river.

Six of the suites are located directly beside the river. With a large bed facing the water and floor-to-ceiling windows, you can enjoy the view in the morning and perhaps spot some wildlife. The bedroom flows into a spacious bathroom, with large windows that allow you to admire nature from the bath or the rainforest shower. The bathroom also includes a walk-in closet and a separate toilet. On the other side of the bedroom, you will find a desk, dining table, and a comfortable sitting area.

The suites are without televisions, allowing you to enjoy tranquility and fully immerse yourself in the natural environment. Each suite features a spacious terrace with a plunge pool, loungers, and panoramic views. You can even dine privately in your own suite.

Two suites have a similar layout but are located a bit further back and are surrounded by forest. The Lewis Suites have the same setup and are interconnected, making them ideal for families with teenagers or groups of friends, and are situated close to the Main Lodge.

Finally, there are two very spacious Family Suites. The master bedroom with a king-size bed faces the terrace and has a private bathroom with a bathtub. The second bedroom, with a king-size or two single beds, is located behind and also features a private bathroom with an outdoor shower. Both bedrooms open onto a shared living room with a terrace and plunge pool.

The Family Suites and Exclusive Villa The two Family Suites can be combined into an exclusive villa with four bedrooms, an extra-large pool, and a communal living space with cooking facilities. This villa offers many extras, including a private chef, vehicle, and butler, for an even more luxurious and personalized experience.

Swimming pool

Each suite features its own plunge pool on the private terrace. At the Main Lodge, there is also a large swimming pool surrounded by lush greenery, an ideal spot to relax and enjoy the serene surroundings.

Restaurants

The lodge does not have a traditional restaurant; instead, there is a cozy dining area near the 'living room' of the Main Lodge, where you can enjoy refined dishes, prepared exclusively with the freshest local ingredients. The lodge team serves contemporary and seasonal creations with love. You can dine under the stars on the river terrace or in the privacy of your own suite, taking in all that the lodge has to offer.

Next to the Main Lodge terrace, you will find the open, interactive kitchen where the chefs skillfully prepare their dishes. There is also a wine cellar where you can enjoy exclusive, tailor-made wine tastings.

Spa / Wellness

The African wilderness offers a rare opportunity to find complete tranquility, with the healing energy of the continent at the heart of Singita’s wellness philosophy. Leave daily stress behind and enjoy a variety of wellness treatments, including therapeutic massages in beautifully appointed treatment rooms.

Additionally, there is a fully equipped fitness center with views of the rugged landscape, where you can train in the company of nature. Each suite also includes a yoga mat and a card with yoga exercises for extra relaxation.

Activities

Enjoy daily game drives guided by experienced guides and trackers who know exactly where the animals are. These rides take place in the afternoon and evening, allowing you to also enjoy the sunset and the unique magic of the African night. The safari vehicles are ultramodern and accommodate up to six guests.

The walking safaris are a wonderful way to experience nature up close. Guided by a knowledgeable field guide, you will discover the tracks of wild animals. Additionally, there are numerous bird species in the area, and specialized guides are ready to teach you more about these unique birds. Stargazing is also one of the many options. Visit the Conservation Room in the Main Lodge to learn more about the history of Singita Sabi Sand and the region.

Child-friendliness

Children of all ages are welcome at the lodge, and the specially designed family rooms ensure a comfortable stay. Although there is no kids' club, the stunning surroundings of Sabi Sand provide a natural playground for children.

The Singita Mini Rangers program is specially developed for young, curious explorers and teaches them survival skills in the wild with primitive tools, tracking animals, and discovering the secrets of trees, plants, and birds. Other activities for children include cooking lessons, board games, stargazing, puzzles, and walking safaris (from age 6). With the guide's approval, children can also join game drives.

Sustainability

Sustainability is at the heart of Singita's mission to preserve and protect South Africa's stunning natural environment. The Singita Lowveld Trust plays a crucial role in this, with a dedicated team focused on conserving biodiversity.

In South Africa, the Singita Lowveld Trust manages a wide range of conservation projects across both Singita Sabi Sand and Singita Kruger National Park. These projects include anti-poaching programs and wildlife research, as well as land management and sustainable collaboration initiatives with local communities, such as early childhood development projects, digital learning, and a world-class culinary school.

The Trust collaborates with the international conservation organization Panthera to protect the leopard population, which has led to the discovery that the area has the highest density of leopards of any protected region in South Africa. The Panthera Furs
