Vietnam is a remarkably diverse and inspiring country to explore. In each region, you will find completely different landscapes, unique cuisines, and extraordinary sights. Throughout the country, you travel in all comfort, and there is a good selection of stunning, luxury hotels.

You can keep your trip very relaxed or fill it with special experiences. On the free days in the itinerary, with the exception of Quy Nhon, you will have the car with driver and the English-speaking guide at your disposal. This way, you can also decide locally to do something special or to take it easy.

Day by Day

Day 1 - Arrival in Hanoi

Welcome to Hanoi, one of the most enchanting capitals of Asia. Let yourself be captivated by the Old Quarter, filled with narrow streets and deliciously fragrant food stalls. You will be greeted by your guide and taken to your hotel.

Day 2 - Hanoi

You have a choice today. Enjoy a full day of relaxation to acclimatize and recover from your journey. Lounge by the pool and perhaps book a delightful spa treatment. Just a short walk away, you will find the Old Quarter, where you can explore at your own pace and choose a lovely restaurant.

You can also opt to explore with your guide today. Your guide will take you by car to the southern part of Hanoi, to a special district. It's as if you have stepped back in time to the 1960s, when Hanoi was still a small capital. Walk through narrow alleyways with colorful market stalls, enjoy the vibrant atmosphere, and learn from your guide about what those unique yellow buildings are all about. After a break with traditional Vietnamese coffee, you will be taken to the Literature Museum for a peaceful visit.

You may also choose to go with your guide to the Ho Chi Minh complex to learn more about 'Uncle Ho' and his significant role in Vietnamese history. Or, begin a walking tour from your hotel with your guide, leading you past the stunning buildings in the French Quarter. After visiting the Museum of Vietnamese Women, hop into a rickshaw for a ride around Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter.

Day 3 - Hanoi – Halong Bay

You will be picked up from your hotel and driven through the Red River Delta for approximately 3 hours to Halong Bay. Or, make this journey even more unforgettable by optionally replacing this transfer with a flight in a small seaplane. Enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the landscape and the legendary bay, before landing on the water in Halong Bay. There is no better way to start your Halong Bay adventure.

Next, you will board your private cruise, which will take you from Halong Bay to the equally stunning Bai Tu Long Bay. After a delicious lunch onboard, you can enjoy the majestic water landscape. You will reach the Cong Do area, a serene natural region. Here, you can go kayaking and enjoy the towering limestone rocks rising from the water, the diverse flora and fauna, a natural saltwater lake, and a coral reef.

Day 4 - Bai Tu Long Bay – Halong Bay

Start the day early with a tai chi session on the sun deck. After a hearty breakfast with a phenomenal view, you will visit a floating fishing village by rowing boat. Later today, you can go swimming at an island and/or go kayaking. Enjoy a cooking demonstration onboard in the afternoon and a delightful herbal foot bath before ending the day with an exquisite dinner.

Day 5 - Halong Bay – Hanoi – Hue

You may choose to join an early tai chi session again or gently wake up with a delicious cup of coffee. After breakfast, you will visit Sung Sot Cave, the largest and most famous cave of Halong Bay. Then, you will reach the harbor and it will be time to say goodbye to your crew. A transfer will take you to Hanoi Airport for your flight to Hue.

Upon arrival in Hue, you will be welcomed by your new guide and taken to your hotel. The rest of the day is yours to relax at the hotel.

Day 6 - Hue

The ancient imperial capital of Hue has much to offer. You can coordinate with your guide on what you wish to do and see today. After breakfast, your guide can come to pick you up with a local rickshaw, which will take you through narrow streets to the impressive Imperial City. This includes not only the Citadel but also the entire walled ‘town’ around it. Take a leisurely stroll here and listen to the fascinating stories your guide will share about this historic site.

Lunch will be served at a special location, in an old theater within a beautiful garden near the Thien Mu Pagoda. The rest of the afternoon is at your leisure. You can enjoy the facilities of your hotel and relax by the pool. Your guide and driver will remain available should you wish to visit some imperial tombs, art galleries, or the Dam Chuon Lagoon.

In the afternoon, a special private cocktail cruise on the Perfume River has been arranged for you. A very pleasant way to enjoy the stunning scenery along the riverbanks.

Day 7 - Hue – Hoi An

Enjoy a relaxing morning with plenty of time to have a leisurely breakfast. You will be picked up by your guide for your transfer to the charming town of Hoi An. On the way, you will stop for lunch at a restaurant with stunning views over the Cau Hai Lagoon, at the foot of the Hai Van Pass and the Annamite mountain range. After lunch, the journey continues over the breathtaking Hai Van Pass, which has been named one of the most beautiful coastal routes in the world.

Instead of being directly driven to Hoi An, you will make a magical excursion. You will sail in a wooden boat through a magnificent nipa palm mangrove forest along the Thu Bon River, as the sun searches its way down and slowly sets.

You will arrive in Hoi An by boat when it is already dark. This makes it even more special, as the streets along the waterfront in the old town are cheerfully illuminated by colorful lanterns. You will be dropped off here and taken to your hotel. Alternatively, you can choose to take an evening walk through the old town with your guide and sample some of the iconic regional dishes.

Day 8 - Hoi An

Two days to spend entirely at your leisure. Enjoy your resort and completely unwind. Your guide and driver will remain at your disposal during these days, so you can decide on the spot to explore the surroundings with your guide. There are also some special experiences in this region that are better arranged in advance, so everything is prepared for you.

Today, you can join a 'farm to table' cooking workshop. After sourcing ingredients for the dishes at the local market with the chef, you will travel by boat to a small farm on an island in the Thu Bon River. Here, the cooking workshop takes place, where you will learn to prepare some local dishes authentically. After lunch, you will walk back to the old center of Hoi An with a guide.

Alternatively, you can opt to explore the stunning mangrove forest even more thoroughly. You will be taken to the mangroves, where you can paddle in a kayak (or on a stand-up paddleboard if you prefer). Sail to the island of Cam Kim, where the Duy Vinh community lives. Here, you will visit a family that still weaves sedge mats in the traditional way (sedge is a grass that grows locally). After a drink, you will be taken back to Hoi An by boat. Or you can choose to cycle back to Hoi An along peaceful country roads.

Day 9 - Hoi An

Today is another free day that you can plan as you wish. Relax by the pool at your resort, or on the beach. If your resort is not located by the beach, you can rent a bicycle and easily cycle there. Alternatively, take a leisurely stroll around the charming town of Hoi An and try out some local restaurants and cafes.

Optionally, you may also visit the My Son ruins. My Son was a special place for the Cham people, and the ruins clearly show Hindu influences. Your guide will give you a brief introduction to the history and culture of the Cham people, after which you will walk around the complex. Admire the beautifully crafted ancient red brick temples, with some remarkable monuments and inscriptions. Afterwards, you will be driven by car to a pier, from where you will cruise back to Hoi An on a wooden private boat. With a refreshing drink in hand, you can enjoy the local life along the riverbanks.

Or, after a day of relaxation, choose an optional special dinner in the mangroves. You will be driven to the nipa palm mangrove forest at the end of the afternoon, where you will step onto a floating bamboo platform. On this platform, you can sit at your table and enjoy an aperitif while being gently floated through the mangroves. Witness the magical sunset that slowly transforms the mangroves into a tapestry of colors. As it gets dark, your table will be illuminated by lanterns and your dinner will be served. A truly unique and romantic dining experience.

Day 10 - Hoi An – Quy Nhon

Early in the morning, it is time to leave this region. You will be taken to the train station in Danang for a unique journey on the luxurious Vietage train. The stunning Vietage train carriage makes your trip a truly unforgettable experience. From the moment you step onboard until you leave the train, you will be completely pampered and only need to enjoy a good conversation and the passing scenery. From green, expansive rice fields to forested mountain slopes and sparkling coastlines.

In the afternoon, you will arrive in Quy Nhon, where the concierge of your hotel will welcome you and escort you to your transfer. Then, you will be taken to your beautiful beach resort.

Day 11 - 12 - Quy Nhon

Two full days to completely relax at this paradisiacal place. Enjoy the privacy of your pool villa, unwind at the resort's infinity pool, or relax on the golden sandy beach. For even more relaxation, visit the excellent spa.

The resort also offers a wide range of activities, should you wish to explore the surrounding area.

Day 13 - Quy Nhon – Ho Chi Minh City

A transfer from the hotel will take you to Quy Nhon Airport for your domestic flight to Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, you will be welcomed by your new local guide and taken to your hotel. This afternoon, you can explore the city center with your guide and visit the iconic colonial buildings.

Day 14 - Ho Chi Minh City

A day fully at your leisure. Explore the city or the surrounding area with your guide, or book an optional experience in the vicinity.

For example, you can visit a hidden spot in the stunning Mekong Delta. After approximately 2.5 hours of driving, you will transfer to a private boat and begin the real adventure. You will be in a local part of the Mekong Delta and will learn more about the local daily life here, which still largely takes place on and around the water. After visiting an old communal house and a small local factory, you will enjoy lunch in a small guesthouse on an island. In the afternoon, you will visit a farm where honeybees are kept. Then, you will hop on a bicycle and ride along narrow paths across the island. At another farm, you will see how 'Sâm jelly' is made before tasting it. Passing through several orchards, you will reach a small boat, which will take you through the dense mangrove forest. Finally, you will return to the mainland and be driven back to Ho Chi Minh City.

Alternatively, you can book an optional excursion to the Cu Chi Tunnels. You will board a private speedboat and cruise along the Saigon River. Leave the hustle and bustle of the city behind and watch the landscape become increasingly rural. After about an hour and a half of sailing, you will transfer to a car for the final stretch to the tunnels. Take your time to explore the impressive labyrinth of underground tunnels and learn what it was like to live underground during the war. After a leisurely lunch at a small local restaurant by the river, you will be driven back to your hotel by private transfer.

Day 15 - Departure from Ho Chi Minh City

Today, a transfer will take you to the airport for your flight to your next destination or back to the Netherlands.

If your flight departs later in the afternoon or evening, you will still have time to explore some of the hidden gems of Ho Chi Minh City. First, you will go to District 3, where it feels like stepping back in time. Here, you will visit the oldest café in the city, opened in 1938, for a drink. Stroll through a vast street market filled with clothing and food stalls, then walk through a workers' district that seems unchanged since the 1960s. Admire the old residential buildings before reaching the Ho Thi Ky neighborhood. This area is famous for its spectacular flower market and the maze of narrow streets and alleys. Also, you will sample some Khmer delicacies, of which you will try a few. Passing through the astonishing District 10, where you will see something special around every corner, you will arrive at one of the most renowned and best 'food streets' in the city. This is the perfect spot for lunch.

Day 1 - Arrival in Hanoi
