Whale Watching: period June through November
The tour starts from Thesen Island with an exciting cruise across the Knysna River estuary, through the iconic Knysna Heads to open sea. Searching for marine life. As the boat glides over the waves, you may spot many beautiful Cape fur seals. These marine mammals have made their home on nearby islands and cliffs. You can see them playing and sunbathing. In addition to Cape fur seals, there is a great chance of seeing curious dolphins darting around the boat.
The highlight of this maritime safari is the opportunity to spot majestic whales. Depending on the season, you might encounter humpback whales, southern right whales, and Bryde’s whales as they move through the waves. Their presence and enormous size are truly breathtaking and create an unforgettable memory.
Marine Eco Tours: from December to May
Outside the whale season, the tour continues under the name Marine Eco Tours. The program is exactly the same, but there is no chance to see humpback whales and southern right whales.
