&Beyond Mnemba Island

This exclusive resort features 12 rustic bandas, or cottages, designed with palm leaves and decorated with African accents and Omani touches. Each banda reflects the spiral shape of a nautilus shell and is framed by calming opal-like colors and soft pink shades, paying tribute to the precious coral surrounding the island.

Between each banda, there is a minimum of 10 to 15 meters of space, allowing you to enjoy complete privacy. Located directly on the beach, each banda has its own stretch of shoreline, featuring a covered beach lounge with an outdoor shower, bar, lounge area, and sea-facing loungers. The bandas are 126 m² in size and include a covered veranda with a large lounge sofa, indoor ceiling fan, king-size bed or two twin beds (note that these are within the same bed frame as the king-size bed), mosquito net, extensive minibar with coffee station, and Wi-Fi. The spacious bathroom is equipped with a shower, double sink, and toilet. Since there is no fitness center at the resort, each banda has its own fitness equipment in the room.

If you are traveling with a family, there is also a Family banda, which includes an extra bedroom with 2 single beds and an en-suite bathroom. This banda is suitable for a maximum of 2 adults and 2 older children.

On the beach, there is a restaurant and bar where you can enjoy delicious dishes and drinks with your feet in the sand. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner can also be served at your own banda. Your butler is always ready to bring you drinks, snacks, or meals to your personal banda or beach lounge. Sometimes, special evenings are organized, such as a fish barbecue on the beach, ensuring plenty of variety. The island features various romantic and idyllic spots where you can enjoy a special dinner under the stars. Your butler is happy to assist in arranging these exclusive dining-by-design moments.

The resort has its own wellness bungalow with two treatment rooms and a yoga pavilion. The wellness center employs a holistic healing approach. You can enjoy a yoga class daily, and you also have the option to participate in meditation and client-focused sessions. Of course, you can also choose to indulge in a relaxing treatment or private yoga session in your own bungalow.

It is good to know that this resort does not have a pool. Everything here revolves around the beach life and the ocean at your feet.

The resort offers numerous enjoyable inclusive activities during your stay on Mnemba Island. The island is renowned for its coral reefs and irresistible snorkeling and diving opportunities right from the beach. Be sure to also visit the extensive diving center on the island. Additionally, discover the coral nursery and the coral reef restoration project.

The island is recognized as a nesting site for the green turtle. As a result, you can participate in educational activities related to monitoring and documenting these remarkable creatures. There is also an incredibly beautiful Discovery Centre on the island where you can take part in inspiring projects or go on excursions with a specialized guide, marine biologist, and diving instructors.

Inclusive watersports include stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, and the Hobie Cat. Diving is also included, with up to two free dives per day if you hold a full PADI certification.

Finally, you can also enjoy a dhow cruise at sunset.

For children, the WILDchild program is available, offering a variety of fun activities throughout the day. These include a treasure hunt, a 'pirate boat trip' around the island, snorkeling, picnicking on the beach, nature walks, turtle-shaped cookies baking with the chef, and more. However, the resort enforces a maximum of 2 children at a time on the island. The resort is recommended for children over 8 years old who can stay in the exclusive Family Banda.

The resort partners with Wild Impact to create a better world. Significant investments are made in the local community, with as many as 81% of the staff coming from Zanzibar itself. Lessons on sustainability are also given to the local community. The use of local products is maximized, and considerable investments are made in the country's infrastructure.

The resort purifies water on-site to produce drinking and sparkling water. Recycled glass bottles are used for this purpose, eliminating plastic bottles from the lodge. All plastic, glass, and recyclable materials are sent to Tanzania for reuse or recycling. Energy and water consumption are monitored and managed to keep usage as low as possible.

In 2006, five Ader’s duikers, the rarest antelope in Africa, were introduced to the island. The population has now grown to 35. At the discovery centre, you can learn about the incredible project the resort is committed to and visit the coral nursery and coral reef restoration project on the island.
