Mikumi National Park is also known as the 'Little Serengeti' because its landscape resembles that of this famous park. Think of vast savannahs stretching as far as the eye can see, dotted with acacias and baobab trees. An ideal landscape to spot wildlife in their natural habitat.
Mikumi National Park is located in the southern part of Tanzania. A highway runs west from Dar Es Salaam, making the park accessible within about 4 hours. It is still not a heavily touristy destination, but it is a bit busier than the other national parks in southern Tanzania. The park is also easily accessible by flight.
During a game drive, you will truly enjoy the surroundings. Spot curious giraffes, a large family of elephants, elegant impalas hopping by, and a group of lounging lions seeking the shade of a bush. The Big Five can even be seen here. Especially on the Mkata plains, you can take stunning photos of wildlife in their magnificent natural habitat.
